Integrated Approach to Contracts
Health Shared Services BC now manages all contracts for the six BC health authorities’ goods, supplies equipment and services. Our integrated approach uses provincial teams in two key areas: category management and product standardization.
Category Management
Category Management includes 10 Category Management portfolios. The Category Management portfolios are supported by teams dedicated to Contract Planning (Planning, Reporting, Benchmarking/Measurement, Stewardship, Quality Assurance, Change Management) and Strategic Partner Relations.
This model strategically aligns with the tertiary structure within the Health Authorities and is easier to navigate, improve responsiveness and enhance customer experience.

Product Standardization
Product standardization is critical in maximizing supply chain value to the health authorities. Standardization decreases the number of products and systems that are used. Consolidating health authority volumes into provincial product catalogues will reduce the purchase price for the standard items as well as decreasing the inventory that must be kept on hand. Standardization improves the efficacy and the efficiency of Supply Chain Services and results in significant savings that Health Shared Services BC can redistribute to the health authorities.
